The new moon is one of my favourite times of the month. The start of a new lunar cycle, the new moon is the lunar equivalent of Winter. Traditionally, this is when women would bleed. With no moonlight in the sky or modern-day street lights, there would have been a lot more natural darkness, and so it makes sense then this is a natural time of going inwards for reflection and deep release. You may find yourself feeling Wintry and more tired than usual. If you’ve made social plans you may decide to cancel them opting for a mug of hot tea and quiet time instead.
In today’s modern world it’s easy to get lost in the noise and busyness of it all: never-ending to-do lists, competing demands, social media, expectations….the list goes on. The pressures are constant and if we’re not careful, can lead to a whole host of wellbeing issues such as anxiety, burn out and feelings of inadequacy.
As women we are by our very nature cyclical beings. Like the tides, we ebb and flow, and yet too often we ignore our body’s whispers and push on through until we have no choice but to stop. In the age of women rising, now more than ever it’s important that we create space in our lives to tune into our cycles and rhythms.
